First Block Classes

Nursery (Ages 0 - 3)

Description:  Nursery care is available for children ages 0–3. If you’d like to use our nursery services, please be sure to register your child for this “class.”

Early Learners (Ages 4 - 5)
Teacher: Dawn Sparks

Location: Nursery Area

Description:  Join us for an engaging and fun-filled early learning program designed for children ages 4–5! Through interactive activities, kids will develop foundational preschool skills, including early literacy, basic math concepts, social skills, and creative expression. Our hands-on approach makes learning exciting and helps prepare little ones for the next step in their educational journey. Let the adventure begin!

Guided Art (Ages 6 - 10)

Description: Unleash your creativity and learn to draw with this engaging class! Students ages 6 - 10 will explore guided art techniques, graph drawing, and sketching to develop their artistic skills. We’ll also use fun and kid-friendly YouTube art tutorials for step-by-step drawing guidance, making the learning process interactive and enjoyable. Whether you’re a budding artist or just looking to try something new, this class is perfect for nurturing creativity and confidence in drawing!

STEM (Grades 6th - 9th)

Description: In this math class, students will explore engineering design, measurement, and basic statistics concepts by building a desktop catapult. Besides this main project, students will do smaller hands-on math investigations and games/puzzles to explore additional middle school math concepts.

Order In The Court (Grades 5th - 10th)

Description: Get ready for a fun and engaging class! Students will dive into the world of the judicial system with exciting mock trials held right in the classroom. They’ll learn how the court system works, master key courtroom terms, and bring cases to life—many inspired by classic fairy tales. It’s a hands-on way to make learning both educational and entertaining!

Hypothesis Heroes (Ages 6 - 10)

Description:  Get ready to explore the wonders of science in Hypothesis Heroes for kids ages 4-10! This hands-on class features exciting, interactive science experiments every week, designed especially for elementary students. Each experiment follows the steps of the Scientific Method, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for discovery. From forming hypotheses to testing and analyzing results, students will become real scientists in action. Join us for a fun and engaging journey into the world of science!

Munching And Moving (Ages 6 - 14)

Description: This exciting class is perfect for kids of all ages who want to explore the joy of cooking and living a healthy lifestyle! Students will learn how to prepare nutritious meals and snacks, discover fun ways to stay active, and develop lifelong healthy habits. Through hands-on activities and engaging lessons, they’ll gain confidence in the kitchen and an understanding of how to take care of their bodies—all while having a blast!

Knitting (Ages 10 and up)
Teacher: Aimee Krenz

Description:
Discover the joy of knitting in this fun and interactive class designed for kids aged 10 and up! Join us for a fun and exciting knitting adventure! You will learn the basics of knitting—casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off. You’ll start your very first project: a cozy scarf! No prior experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm and creativity.

Cost/Supplies:
  • Worsted weight yarn: Choose your favorite color! Lighter shades make stitches easier to see.
  • Knitting needles (size #7–#9): Check your yarn label for guidance. Bamboo needles are great for beginners since they grip the yarn better.
  • Tapestry needle: For sewing in ends (I’ll have one to borrow if needed).
  • Scissors: Optional to bring, but handy for home projects.
  • Let’s have fun learning, creating, and knitting something amazing together!
$mart $tart Business Adventure (Grades 4th - 12th)
Teacher: Lynn Sorbel

Description: Calling all young entrepreneurs! This dynamic class offers an exciting introduction to the basics of starting a small business, tailored for students in grades 4–12. From brainstorming business ideas to understanding budgeting, marketing, and customer service, kids will explore the essentials of turning their ideas into reality. Through interactive activities and real-world examples, students will gain the skills and confidence to embark on their very own business adventure. Get ready to spark creativity, innovation, and a $mart $tart to success!

Cost/Supplies: Please bring a Dream Book to the first class. This could be a notebook, a sketch pad or an iPad with a file on it named Dream Book. You can bring the book empty, or you can start filling the book with your ideas, sketches and questions. You're the boss!
